Parkridge Medical Center to host Pelvic Floor Seminar May 4

April 20, 2010 – For generations, many women in the Chattanooga area have accepted incontinence and other pelvic floor dysfunction as an unavoidable byproduct of aging. This does not have to be the case anymore, as women today have a variety of options for the treatment of bowel and bladder problems. The Parkridge Pelvic Floor Center’s colon-rectal surgeon Dr. Shauna Lorenzo and OBGYN Dr. Rena Azar will be the presenting speakers at “The Bottom Line: What Women Need to Know About Pelvic Floor Health”, a free seminar that will be held on May 4 from 5 – 6:30 p.m. in the Diagnostic Center adjacent to Parkridge Medical Center. This event offers women in the Chattanooga area a relaxed and informative afternoon with light refreshments and a chance to learn more about surgical and non-surgical options for the management of conditions such as incontinence.

“It is important that ladies know that there are a variety of advanced treatments available for bowel and bladder issues,” notes Dr. Azar. “Options range from physical therapy to cutting-edge surgical techniques.”

“This program is perfect for women who want to learn more about how pelvic floor problems can be addressed in a way that improves quality of life,” Dr. Lorenzo notes. “The right diagnostic and interventional care can help moderate or even eliminate some of the embarrassment and discomfort associated with these issues.”

Parkridge’s Pelvic Floor Center was established in 2009 to meet a need for comprehensive services related to bowel and bladder dysfunction. The Center offers specialized treatments and therapies for incontinence, constipation and other issues of the pelvic floor.
